This month’s eBirder of the Month challenge, sponsored by Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, is all about birding on Global Big Day! Last year, 35,209 eBirders from 174 countries collected an astounding 92,284 checklists in a single day. Will 2020 be the year we surpass 100,000 checklists in one day? Join us and together we can set a new checklist record! The eBirder of the month will be drawn from eBirders who submit 3 or more eligible checklists on 9 May. Winners will be notified by the 10th of the following month.
On 9 May, each checklist you submit will help us reach our goal: 100,000 checklists of birds in one day. It doesn’t matter where you are or how many species you see – you can enjoy birds from your yard, garden, or even inside your home and still be part of Global Big Day. Whether you only have 5-10 minutes to spare, or submit lists throughout the day, every eBird checklist submitted on May 9 counts as participation. Of course, if you want a chance at free binoculars, submit at least three eligible checklists!
Each month we will feature a new eBird challenge and set of selection criteria. The monthly winners will each receive a new ZEISS Conquest HD 8×42 binocular. In addition, don’t forget about the 2020 Checklist-a-day Challenge—can you submit 366 eligible checklists this year?
